HEALTHY, BALANCED AND TASTY MEALS

HCL is our school's lunch provider. Our school meals are packed with great and tasty ingredients to help your child really enjoy lunchtimes at their new school.

Choosing a school meal will give your child the chance to try new foods and meals packed full of the energy and essential nutrients they need to grow and learn.

If your child has a special medical dietary requirement, parents/carers MUST apply on the Herts Catering Limited (HCL) website (https://specialmenu.hcl.co.uk/application/registration), before they will be able to have a meal in the school canteen. Please speak to the school office if you require any further guidance.

Special menus from HCL - what to do if your child has an allergy

HCL, our school meal provider, has a rigorous process in place to provide a safe meal service to pupils with food allergies or intolerances. If your child has a food allergy or intolerance and meets the qualifying criteria, then HCL have a range of delicious and nutritious menus designed especially for your child’s medical requirement. 

As a parent/carer, you will need not only to inform the school via our Allergy Form, but also to complete the HCL form (https://specialmenu.hcl.co.uk). The on-line account system takes just minutes to create and complete and should be easy to use. You will need at hand:

• Your child’s school details including class name
• Medical evidence of your child’s medical requirements
• Electronic Passport style photograph (which you will need to upload on to our system)

Once you have created your account you will be able to easily update the school and HCL with any changes to your child’s dietary needs in the future.

Packed Lunches

Children are able to bring packed lunches. Please remember that peanut butter or Nutella cannot be used as a sandwich filling; some of our pupils have serious allergies and this could trigger a severe reaction. We politely ask that you DO NOT inculde NUTS in any lunchboxes. (Cans, glass bottles and fizzy drinks are also not allowed).
