At the start of the school year we nominate and vote for our new School Council members.
We have two members per class making a total of 12 children from Years 1-6.
We meet every other week with Mr Urquhart. We are responsible for fund raising events and helping make school improvements.
Last year was really busy for us.
For Children in Need we had a best bear outfit competition. We all brought in bears wearing outfits which we had designed and made at home. We had over 250 bears in the school hall and judging the best ones was incredibly hard.
At Halloween we judged a best designed and decorated pumpkin. It was fantastic, we closed the curtains in the hall and put lights in the pumpkins; it looked brilliant!
Our favourite competition was for Easter. We had an Easter Egg design competition. It was so hard for us to judge the winners that we needed help from the teachers!
School Council members are also the voice for pupils in the class. Each week children are given the opportunity in their class to share with the school council members any ideas they have for improving the school and these are then brought up in the School Council meetings.
The School Council meet in the library and love sitting around our new meeting table. Next on the School Council agenda is to have tea and biscuits at the meetings!
